Washington State Isopluvial Selector
Engenious Systems is making available a GIS based application that will enable
users working in Washington State to visually select any location to retrieve
rainfall precipitations. The program tracks mouse location by UTM
coordinates or Longitude and Latitude. It supports the following design
event precipitations:
|
24 hr Mean Ann |
24 hr 500 yr |
24 hr 100 yr |
24 hr 50 yr |
24 hr 25 yr |
24 hr 10 yr |
24 hr 2 yr |
24 hr 6 mo |
|
2 hr Mean Ann |
2 hr 500 yr |
2 hr 100 yr |
2 hr 50 yr |
2 hr 25 yr |
2 hr 10 yr |
2 hr 2yr |
Yearly Mean Ann |

WashISO™ can track
a single precipitation grid at a time when panning across the map, however, all
grids are active when a project location is selected. That means a single
location will report back any combination of precipitation events. The
second tab titled "Precip Config" allows users to select the events that are
reported.
 |
There must be a minimum of one grid selected in order to produce a report.
The report is designed for direct access into StormShed3G (works with StormShed
and StormShed2G too). Selecting the
presents
a dialog that enables selection of an existing StormShed3G™ project a simple
table that is tab delimited, so that the values can easily be cut and pasted
into Microsoft Word® or Excel®
. |
When exporting to StormShed, the WashISO™ replaces all values in the project file
with the selected precipitation events. Since StormShed requires the 2
year 24 hr event for sheet flow computations, that event is automatically
included in the selection.
Along the bottom of the application window is a status line that displays the UTM
coordinates (or Longitude and Latitude) along with the height at the location of
the mouse. The current zoom scale is displayed as well as the mouse mode and
grid that is being tracked.

When a location is selected, the precipitation at the grid that is being tracked
is displayed along the top tool bar.

Selecting a location is as simple as selecting the
button
on the toolbar and clicking on the desired map location. The program will
only support a single location, so clicking on several locations simply moves
the selection point.
In support of the free mapping services that enable a richer image of your
geographical site (such as Virtual Earth or Google Maps) this program has a
manual location selector that allows users to enter a longitude and latitude
(ddd.dddddd format).

Once the coordinates are entered, WashISO will collate the data for the report.
The program is designed as a support program for StormShed or any other
application that requires design precipitations in Washington State. There
is no memory of project locations beyond the last location selected between
program sessions.
Evaluations are available from our
installation page. Pricing information is available from our
pricing page. Evaluations are limited to
the 24hr 25yr precipitation grid.
