Licensing - StormShed3G™

StormShed3G™ can be licensed either on a per machine basis or as a site license.  Per machine is one license, one machine.  Site license means one license, many machines, however only the number of licenses purchased can be run concurrently.  If you purchase a 2 user site license, it means only two workstations can run the program concurrently (you can install on as many machines as you wish). 

Site licenses are based on physical locations.  That means if your company has two offices, City A and City B, each office needs their own site license.  A single site license CANNOT be shared between multiple offices.

When StormShed3G starts, the license count for your organization is incremented. When the program is terminated properly, the license is released.  If you are using the program and it crashes or the computer is un-plugged or you disconnect yourself FROM THE INTERNET, the license is not released, so you must restart the program, then shut it down properly before you can go home!

All licenses, site or per machine are validated each time against our server.  What this means is that generally, you must be connected to the internet in order to use the program.  This is ABSOLUTELY true for site license users, however, for per machine users, it isn't entirely true.  With the per machine license, you are allowed to use the program with the permissions granted to you from the last successful user instance for a period of five days since the last time you successfully started the program.  This feature is specifically for laptop users who might be on the road without access.  If you have a laptop that is used occasionally, then you decide to take it on a trip and plan to do a StormShed3G project with it.  Start it and run StormShed3G before you leave.

Per machine licensing will allow up to five (5) machine re-assignments before becoming the license becomes invalid.  To revalidate the license, you must have the license reset.  The cost has not been determined, but it won't be cheap.  If you feel the re-assignments were legitimate, call us.

Per machine licenses CANNOT BE UPGRADED to a site license.  For that matter, Site Licenses CANNOT BE downgraded to per machine licenses.  We just don't want to try determine an equitable cost for these conversions. 

HSPFToolkit™

HSPFToolkit is also available on a per machine basis or as a site license.  See the StormShed3G site license restrictions above.  HSPFToolkit includes a one year automatic upgrades, after which there will be an upgrade for the next version of the program (whenever that becomes available) or incremental upgrades will be available for a yearly maintenance fee.

The program is in its initial release, and we anticipate numerous feature upgrades that are outside of the maintenance type upgrades and more in line with version upgrades.  Pricing for future version upgrades or maintenance fees have not been determined.
